...is hanging out with friends over dinner. My friends
from college and I do the dinner party thing and my turn had arrived. For me,
there is this whole ritual that I go through and somehow it all comes together
with various twists and turns along the way. The recipes must not have a massive
list of ingredients, ideally can be prepared ahead of time or have as little
last minute prep as possible and they must taste great. Being the goober that I
am, I also love to create a look/feel for the evening. Little did I realize it
ended up being the girltrunks
colors.
My friend, Jodi, with picture this
- photographer extraordinaire - took photos for her blog and what am I doing...using her
photos here. Anyone that reads my blog knows I so admire what she has created
with her business as well as how she manages to blog five days a week...utter craziness in my book as I struggle with
every single blog post.

We all had the best evening...catching up, laughing...sharing a meal together.

...is off the charts fabulous. Angela, the purveyor of Lilly, is a chocolateir extraordinaire! Her combinations are nothing less than devine, and might I just add, gorgeous on the eye.

I just had to pop over there to gather up some Easter gifts. She
and her husband are always so welcoming and greet me by name.
Lilly is much more than just chocolates mind
you. They also offer specialty wine and
beer and even pair their chocolate confections with
wine or beer for the perfect indulgence. What's not to love about
that?!

The shop
is whimsical, fun, pink and full of great energy. Go if you live here and
definitely make it a must go to if your travels bring you to the Cleveland area. The good news is if you cannot
visit the shop personally, they offer online ordering. So treat that someone
special or yourself to some amazing chocolates.

...and lots and lots of snow. I love how snow totally changes the
landscape.

This is Jodi's cookie tray and may I just say she is quite the
baker. Her sugar cookies are amazing and that middle cookie is one of my
favorites...a pain to make, but so, so good.

After a very windy drive from Long Beach to Santa Monica we arrived at the oh so swanky Viceroy.
What a cool hotel! And was it ever buzzing
with activity. As we were checking in they offered us champagne...why not? We
were giddy with excitement and so thrilled to be there after the intensity of
the past few days. We both love great hotels and design and this one was indeed
FABULOUS on all accounts! We got settled in the room and chose to order room
service. You might laugh at what we both ordered...grilled cheese...gotta love
it!

We met such great folks from the press as well as
others that participated in the event. Mara with Kooky
Klickers was at the next table and Kelly with striking -
reinvent your skin was a few tables down. Kooky Klickers is a fun product for kids and
adults alike and striking is a must for the female-aging
skin.
When were on our way back to the room after the event was over there
was a film crew going through the lobby. Well I, of course, had to investigate
and here they were taping Giuliana and Bill.
My friend just looked at me as she could see how
excited I was...and I was...she grabbed my stuff and took it to
the room. Now I had to figure out where to position myself so I could see all
that was going on. I found the perfect spot and might even end up in the
episode. I cannot tell you how fun it was and I think I actually witnessed some
"real" drama which I shall keep to myself. Johanna came down and we sat outside
and had a blast. After the camera crew departed we made our way to Whist for a
wonderful meal at the hotel.
The Viceroy was a fantastic ending to a fantastic and memorable
trip!

...so, so yummy. I absolutley LOVE peaches...my favorite fruit hands down and the season is way too short. You might be surprised (or not) to know that peaches are grown in Ohio and the best (in my opinion) are from Bauman Orchard in Rittman, OH.

For many years I have been getting Bauman peaches from Mustard Seed Market & Cafe (one of my
favorite natural and organic grocery stores in the Cleveland/Akron area) and I
am telling you, I have never had a mealy peach from them which is amazing. I
went to Bauman Orchard for the first time last week
and purchased lots and lots of peaches so I, of course, had to make Peach Cream
Pie for the Labor Day picnic.

This recipe
for Peach Cream Pie was given to my family from a family that owns a peach and
apple orchard. I am not a huge pie fan but this one I love and it could not be
easier to make.
Ingredients:
2/3 cup sugar
4 tablespoons flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
5-7 fresh peaches peeled and
sliced
1/2 teaspoon
cinnamon
1 cup heavy
whipping cream
1 9"
pie shell
Preparation:
Preheat oven to 450°F.
Combine first
six ingredients in a large bowl and stir until well mixed. Pour into pie shell
and sprinkle with cinnamon.
Cook at 450 degrees for 10
minutes then lower the temperature to 350 and cook for an additional 30-35
minutes. It is okay if it is a little jiggly in the middle as it should firm up when
cooled.
Enjoy!4
