…on Fox 8 Cleveland’s That's Life with Robin Swoboda and what a thrill it was. Everyone at Fox 8 could not have been more wonderful and accommodating. Three of my friends agreed to model along with the producer’s niece so we had a 16-year-old teenager all the way to a hip grandma of six - again bringing home the cross-generational appeal of girltrunks.

When I watched the clip and
saw the four models together at the end of the segment, I thought…how truly
great they look…all of them…regardless of anything. It's just so exciting for me when I
see girltrunks on others - to see my vision which
is now a reality, and might I just say, I could not be more
thrilled. Thank you to everyone that
purchased their first set of girltrunks. I hope you absolutely LOVE wearing
them!

My mother and I were going
over the Easter menu last weekend and I asked if she wanted me to make deviled
eggs again. You need to know the deviled eggs were always made by my grandmother
and she has since gone to glory. My mother hesitated, and said yes, as long as
you don’t make them like you did last year. Who knew my deviled eggs missed the
mark? I sure didn't until last week. Here to find out, the error of my ways is I
used dijon mustard, not yellow mustard. So she sent me home with yellow
mustard. I kind of chuckled but now the pressure was on for me to make deviled
eggs like my grandmother made.
So Easter morning I’m making the deviled eggs. I tasted them and they needed more salt and pepper. What do I do but accidentally grab the wrong pepper which is very course and very strong. I’m thinking oh well…I just totally messed them up. Then the paprika, it didn’t have the sifter thing on the jar and some of it went on too thick. I arrived at my folks and said I did my best and I don’t think they are going to be like grandmas. Well…they passed and even received positive comments after dinner. I know deviled eggs are rather simple to make no doubt, but to make them like my grandmother’s, well that’s a completely different story but I did succeed…this year anyway. We’ll see what happens next year.
Then there are the chocolate eggs that my grandmother would get from Faroh’s Candies in Cleveland at Easter that came in real egg cartons. It has been a family tradition since I was a little kid. Faroh’s, as we knew it, went out of business and a candy company in Cleveland, Olympia Candy, currently has the rights to make Faroh’s Candies so I wanted to surprise my family and get chocolate eggs for everyone. We all particularly love their marshmallow eggs as the marshmallow is not sticky but light and fluffy. My personal favorite is the dark chocolate caramallo.
"Our legendary Crate Eggs recipe from Faroh's Candies means you'll taste
childhood memories in every bite!"
I know there are many candy companies that offer marshmallow eggs and/or marshmallow eggs with caramel but none like Faroh’s, the kind my grandmother always got for us. So here’s to you grandma and all the little and big contributions you made to our lives.

I received a call from my friend, Elaine whom was in NYC for a fun girl's weekend with her daughters and two of her granddaughters. It wasn't actually Elaine on the phone. It was someone named Michelle that found Elaine's cell phone in a cab. Michelle gave me her cell number and I said I would track Elaine down. I cannot imagine losing my cell phone so I got right on it.
A few calls later I reached her son. He called his sister then spoke to his Mom and here Elaine didn't even know she had lost her phone. They were all in Dylan's Candy at the time.

She immediately called Michelle, met her, got her phone, and was on her way to Serendipity to continue their NYC festivities. I thought to myself, Dylan's Candy to Serendipity...girls after my own heart and all this after some NYC shopping...what fun! Thanks to the random act of kindness, courtesy of Michelle, Elaine did not miss a beat. I know losing a phone is not the end of the world but it is worth noticing that someone actually chose to extend themselves as verses doing nothing.
Elaine filled me in on their trip thus far and mentioned that the hotel concierge told them about a bakery in Chelsea that had the best cupcakes and they were going to try them, had I ever? I said it was on my NYC list (more on that subject later) but I had not made it there yet...please report in.
On a different note, she and her daughters actually packed their girltrunks in the event they went swimming which I was so excited to know.

I was searching through emails looking for something and came across this email from a friend that has listened to me go on and on about this idea when it was but an idea and did not even have what I think is the fabulous name of girltrunks. The following was written in response to an update I sent with photos to my friends before the product was sent to me from the manufacturer:
I literally started crying reading your mail and taking in the images: the walls of boxes, filled with amazing products, the happy labels!!!, the busy people committed to producing the beautiful product. You are SO inspired to have created this!!! It IS overwhelming! To start with an idea and make it tangible. You made something where there was nothing - in such a short period of time! This is so powerful, as in full of power, and is so filled with passion and love. Ultimately not only are you filling a niche, these are gorgeous products and I have to say the way you've presented the range of sizes and ages is incredibly smart, they are all so beautiful and look amazing in your girltrunks!! They are amazing! They all look so incredibly youthful in these - which underlines the power of the trunks. While some might be uncomfortable in shorts and tanks, girltrunks not only look great they make the lucky owners feel great and confident cause they know they are lookin good!!
Within less than two hours of officially launching the
girltrunks site, I had my
first sale...how absolutely thrilling! I thank all of you
that have placed orders. I cannot express how excited I am that
swim shorts for women are finally getting out there! You cannot imagine how
fantastic you'll feel wearing your girltrunks. I also thank those of you that have
dialogued with me via email and all the well wishes I have received. Please keep
the comments and questions coming as I just love talking about this
product.
No more is the girltrunks site launched and my
dear friend from college posted it on her blog to help get the word out. Oh, how
I would love to write with her cleverness. Jodi is one cool and talented chick.

high-school senior portraiture because she feels seniors are some of the coolest
